In honor of October being National Fire Safety Month, students at Oak Ridge Elementary and Crestview Elementary learned about fire prevention and safety from local fire fighters.

This past weekend, Frenship hosted its annual Wellness Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness at Peoples Bank Stadium. The Frenship Community gathered together to honor those who have fought and are currently fighting against breast cancer.

National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15 until October 15 every year. Through interactive lessons and events, teachers across the district are honoring Hispanic histories, cultures, and heritage every day.

Recently, three Frenship siblings had a very special surprise in the middle of their school day. Their dad returned home from his six-month deployment in Saudi Arabia, and his first stop was to surprise his children. Tears of joy filled each of their eyes when reuniting with him.

Last week, students from Willow Bend Elementary and Terra Vista Middle School put their spelling skills to the test at the District Spanish Spelling Bee. The top spellers will advance to the Regional Spanish Spelling Bee next month.

This month’s theme for Mental Health Minute is Connection. As a component of the 2021 Strategic Plan Initiative, the goal of the Mental Health Minute is to spread awareness of mental health across the Frenship District.

Throughout the month of September and into October all four Frenship middle schools and Frenship High School have been prioritizing mental health and suicide prevention awareness through educational programs and community initiatives.

Students at Westwind Elementary are making learning exciting with a unique lesson designed to teach them how to identify the main idea in informational texts.

Crestview Elementary first graders dove into a week of pirate-themed adventures, complete with treasure hunts, map reading, and pirate lore. This interactive learning experience brought excitement and discovery to the classroom, leaving a lasting impression on students.

Upland Heights Elementary is spicing up math lessons with an engaging Decimal Diner activity. Teacher Alyssa Williams is using this hands-on approach to help her 5th-grade students master decimals while connecting math skills to real-world experiences.
