Frenship ISD Names Principal for New 10th Elementary School

For more than two decades, Barnhill has served families across the Lubbock area in a variety of roles, including eight years in campus leadership. Most recently, she joined the Frenship family in 2025 and served as assistant principal at Bennett Elementary during the 2025-2026 school year.

“I have built many lasting relationships along the way and have worked under and alongside excellent administrators who have helped shape my career as an educator,” said Barnhill. “As I prepare to open the newest Frenship elementary, I hope to cultivate a welcoming, family-oriented school community where every child, family, and staff member feels connected, supported, and empowered to thrive academically and socially.”

Designated as one of the fastest-growing school districts in Texas, Frenship currently serves more than 12,000 students across 16 campuses, with enrollment increasing by 2–5% each year. The new elementary school was approved by voters as part of Frenship ISD’s 2024 Bond and will help with crowding at current campuses. The new elementary will be located in the northern portion of the district at 8204 11th Street, between Inler Avenue/FM 179 and Alcove Avenue.

Over the next two school years, Barnhill will prepare for the campus opening by overseeing logistics, staffing, and campus procedures, as well as ensuring the facility and programs align with and are equitable to Frenship’s nine existing elementary campuses.

“As a new school, we have the exciting opportunity to build traditions together while continuing the Frenship Way,” Barnhill said. “I look forward to creating meaningful experiences that bring families, students, and staff together and establish a strong sense of pride and community for years to come.”

In fall 2027, Frenship ISD will begin gathering input from parents, students, staff, and community members to assist in decision-making for items such as attendance boundaries and naming the new school.
