Willow Bend third graders wrapped up their study of biographies on Oct. 31 with a unique experience – a visit from a local food truck. As part of their unit, they read the Bluebonnet-nominated book Chef Roy Choi and the Street Food Remix by Jacqueline Briggs and June Jo Lee and illustrated by Man One. This is the true story of the chef who started the food truck craze in Los Angeles.
To help bring the story to life, third grade teachers worked together to bring the Now We Taco’n food truck to Willow Bend. Students, teachers, and even a few visiting parents enjoyed street tacos, burritos, and chips and queso fresh from the food truck.
A fun and memorable time was had by all!
