It was a normal Friday morning out on the playground until Paula James was surprised by representatives from Mrs. Baird’s and United Supermarkets.
Liam Carr, a student in James’ class, nominated her for the Teacher on the Rise award.
Mrs. Baird's Teachers on the Rise is a monthly teacher recognition program across the Amarillo and Lubbock areas where students can nominate their teachers for going above and beyond.
James won a $100 United Supermarkets gift card, lunch for two to the Texas Tech Club, and a gift box full of Mrs. Baird’s goodies. Liam also received a $50 American Express gift card.
In Liam’s nomination letter he shares that James goes the extra mile for each of her students.
“Mrs. James goes above and beyond for her students. She takes the time to ensure that we understand what she is teaching us, allows us an opportunity to ask lots of questions, and come in before school to get extra help. I am more confident at math this year thanks to Mrs. James,” said Liam.
James shares that teaching has been a joy in her life.
“It was such a surprise. It’s a blessing being a teacher, I love what I do, and I want these kids to know that I love them too. I feel very blessed to win this award,” said James.
James will be honored at the Teacher on the Rise celebration at the end of the school year.
Congratulations Paula James!
